Georgia Jobless Rate Falls in Q2

The unemployment rate in Georgia declined to 14.4% in the second quarter of 2026 from 14.7% in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The number of unemployed persons dropped by 8.5 thousand year-on-year to 219.1 thousand.

The jobless rate for women slipped to 11.3% from 12.2% in Q2 2025, while the rate for men inched down to 15.7% from 15.9%.

Meanwhile, the employment rate moderated by 0.4 percentage point to 46.0% from 46.4% a year earlier, as the number of employed persons decreased by 1.1 thousand to 1,365.2 thousand.

Additionally, the labour force participation rate fell to 53.3% from 54.1%.

The number of unemployed persons dropped by 9.4 thousand year-on-year to 230 thousand. The jobless rate for women increased to 12.1% from 11.6% in Q1 2025, while the rate for men slipped to 16.2% from 17%. Meanwhile, the employment rate moderated by 1.1 percentage point to 45.7% from 46.8% a year earlier, as the number of employed persons decreased by 25 thousand to 1,369.2 thousand. Additionally, the labour force participation rate fell to 53.4% from 54.8%.

The unemployment rate in Georgia fell to 13.3% in the fourth quarter of 2025 from 14.2% in the corresponding period of the previous year. This remains the lowest reading since the fourth quarter of 2003, as the number of unemployed persons dropped by 18.5 thousand to 215.4 thousand. The jobless rate for women decreased to 10.3% from 11.1% in Q4 2024, while the rate for men slipped to 15.6% from 16.7%. Meanwhile, the employment rate stood at 47.1%, unchanged from a year earlier, even as the number of employed persons declined by 10.4 thousand to 1,402.1 thousand. The labor force participation rate decreased to 54.4% from 54.9%.
