Considering January to July 2017, the deficit was recorded at USD 3,252.7 million, compared to a USD 3,280.8 million deficit in the same period of 2016.

Producer prices in Georgia increased by 11.5 percent year-on-year in August of 2017, following a 10.7 percent rise in the preceding month. Cost went up at a faster pace for mining and quarrying (18.0 percent from 9.7 percent in July) and manufacturing (11.4 percent from 11.0 percent), of which food, beverages and tobacco (6.7 percent from 9.8 percent); basic metals and fabricated metal products (45.5 percent from 31.4 percent); and rubber and plastic products (4.3 percent from 4.8 percent). Meanwhile, prices of electrical energy, gas, steam and hot water rose further by 10.1 percent after an increase of 9.4 percent in July. On a monthly basis, producer prices edged up 0.8 percent.
