Meanwhile, inflation was steady for housing & utilities (5.2 percent); and slowed for health (5 percent vs 5.1 percent), furnishings & household equipment (1.4 percent vs 1.7 percent), recreation & culture (1.3 percent vs 1.9 percent) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (4.4 percent vs 4.9 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.3 percent, following a 0.6 percent drop in June.

Georgia Interest Rate at 7.00 percent  
The National Bank of Georgia reduced its refinancing rate by 25bps to 7 percent on July 25th of 2018, saying inflation remained close to the 3 percent target in the first half of the year and inflationary risks are low. Additionally, the central bank added that rates will continue to be reduced but at a slower pace than first predicted. Due to a higher than expected GDP growth in the first half of 2018 (6.1 percent), policymakers revised higher its GDP forecast to 5.5 percent for 2018. Meanwhile, the bank raised the minimum reserve requirement ratio to 25 percent from 20 percent.

Georgia's producer prices rose by 6.8 percent year-on-year in June 2018, easing from 8.4 percent in the preceding month. Cost slowed for electrical energy, gas, steam & hot water (14.6 percent from 15.2 percent) and manufactured goods (5.1 percent from 7.1 percent in May), of which basic metals & fabricated metal products (13.5 percent from 20.4 percent) and food, beverages & tobacco (3.6 percent from 6.3 percent). Contrarily, prices accelerated for mining & quarrying (13.6 percent from 13 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped 1.1 percent, from a 0.6 percent gain in May.
