Georgia Inflation Holds Steady in September

The annual inflation rate in Georgia remained at 5.6% in September 2026, unchanged from the previous month.

The inflation rate was supported by faster price growth for transport (18.7% vs. 15.2% in August), housing and utilities (9.2% vs. 8.5%), health (8.0% vs. 5.2%), and miscellaneous goods and services (9.4% vs. 7.1%).

Inflation also accelerated for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6.2% vs. 5.5%), recreation and culture (2.9% vs. 1.5%), and restaurants and hotels (7.3% vs. 6.8%).

Meanwhile, food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation slowed (3.4% vs 5.0%), while clothing and footwear prices fell (-1.8% vs 0.6%).

Education costs declined (-12.5% vs 2.4%), while communication prices fell at a slower pace (-2.8% vs. -7.5%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices in Georgia rose 0.4% in September, unchanged from the previous month.

The annual inflation rate in Georgia rose to 5.6% in August 2026 from a four-month low of 5.5% in the previous month. The increase was mainly driven by faster price growth for transport (15.2% vs 14.2% in July), housing and utilities (8.5% vs 8.3%), and health (5.2% vs 4.7%). Food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation also edged up to 5.0% from 4.9%, while recreation and culture accelerated to 1.5% from 1.0%. Meanwhile, inflation softened for restaurants and hotels (6.8% vs 7.9%), clothing and footwear (0.6% vs 1.1%), and miscellaneous goods and services (7.1% vs 7.6%), while education inflation was unchanged at 2.4%. Additionally, costs continued to decline for communication (-7.5% vs -6.3%) and furnishings, household equipment and maintenance (-1.8% vs -2.4%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.4% in August, rebounding from a 0.4% decline in July.

Georgia Inflation Eases to 4-Month Low
Georgia's annual inflation rate eased to 5.5% in July 2025, the lowest level in four months, from 5.8% in June. The main downward pressure came from softer price increases for food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.9% vs 5.6% in June) and transport (14.2% vs 16.5%). Price growth also slowed for restaurants and hotels (7.9% vs 8.4%) and clothing and footwear (1.1% vs 2.1%), while remaining unchanged for health (4.7%) and education (2.4%). Meanwhile, prices continued to decline for furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-2.4% vs -2.2%) and communication (-6.3% vs -6.4%). In contrast, inflation rose for housing and utilities (8.3% vs 7.2%), recreation and culture (1.0% vs 0.9%), miscellaneous goods and services (7.6% vs 7.3%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.6% vs 5.4%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices decreased by 0.4% in July, after rising 0.1% in June and marking the first monthly fall since last December.
