Georgia Inflation Rises in August

The annual inflation rate in Georgia rose to 5.6% in August 2026 from a four-month low of 5.5% in the previous month.
The increase was mainly driven by faster price growth for transport (15.2% vs 14.2% in July), housing and utilities (8.5% vs 8.3%), and health (5.2% vs 4.7%).
Food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation also edged up to 5.0% from 4.9%, while recreation and culture accelerated to 1.5% from 1.0%.
Meanwhile, inflation softened for restaurants and hotels (6.8% vs 7.9%), clothing and footwear (0.6% vs 1.1%), and miscellaneous goods and services (7.1% vs 7.6%), while education inflation was unchanged at 2.4%.
Additionally, costs continued to decline for communication (-7.5% vs -6.3%) and furnishings, household equipment and maintenance (-1.8% vs -2.4%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.4% in August, rebounding from a 0.4% decline in July.
