In 2017, the Faroe Islands trade surplus widened by 2.4 percent from the previous year to DKK 1,491 million, the largest trade surplus on record. Exports rose by 7.4 percent to an all-time high of DKK 8,650 million and imports increased by 10 percent to a record DKK 7,257 million, the biggest gain since 2012. The largest trade surpluses were recorded with Russia, the US, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain, while the biggest trade deficits were recorded with Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Finland and Belgium.
