Ecuador Inflation Eases in July

Ecuador’s annual inflation rate eased to 1.39% in July 2026 from 1.65% in June.

The strongest price pressures were recorded in goods, with prices rising 1.44%.

Non-food prices drove inflation, increasing 2.01%, while services costs rose 1.33%.

Meanwhile, food prices fell 0.7%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices declined 0.09% after rising 0.8% in June.

Year-to-date inflation reached 1.30%.

Ecuador's annual inflation rate rose to 1.65% in June 2026 from 0.92% in the previous month. The strongest price pressures were recorded in transport (7.8%) and healthcare (3.6%). Prices also increased for education (1.6%), recreation and culture (1.2%), communication (0.7%), and furniture and household articles (1.0%). Meanwhile, deflation persisted in food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.2%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (-0.9%), clothing and footwear (-4.3%), and housing and utilities (-2.7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.8% after falling 0.6% in May.

Ecuador’s annual inflation rate eased to 0.9% in May 2026 from 2.6% in April. Price growth slowed for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.7% vs 1.6%), healthcare (4.1% vs 4.5%), communication (0.6% vs 0.7%), education (1.6% vs 1.7%), and restaurants and hotels (1.2% vs 1.4%). Meanwhile, deflation was recorded in food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.1% vs 0.3%), clothing and footwear (-5.0% vs 5.2%), housing and utilities (-7.2% vs 17.3%), and recreation and culture (-0.2% vs 0.4%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.6%, reversing a 0.5% increase in April.
