Armenia Inflation Rate at 9-Month Low

Armenia’s annual inflation rate rose to 3.8% in January 2026 from 3.3% in the previous month, marking the highest reading since June 2025. Prices increased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.9% vs 4.3% in December 2025), health (3% vs 2.5%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (9% vs 7.3%), furnishing and household equipment (0.7% vs 0.2%), and restaurants and hotels (3.2% vs 2.9%). At the same time, costs remained steady for clothing and footwear (0.3%), and education (8.3%). Conversely, prices declined for housing and utilities (-0.1% vs 0.3%), while inflation eased for transport (4.3% vs 6.2%), miscellaneous goods and services (2.2% vs 2.8%), communication (0.5% vs 0.6%), and recreation and culture (0.2% vs 0.9%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 2% in January, following a 1.2% gain in the prior month.

Prices increased at a faster pace for food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.3% vs 3.8% in November), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.3% vs 6.7%), transport (6.2% vs 5%), restaurants and hotels (2.9% vs 2.7%), and miscellaneous goods and services (2.8% vs 2.4%). At the same time, prices in clothing and footwear rebounded (0.3% vs -0.2%), while costs remained steady for communication (0.6%) and education (8.3%). Meanwhile, inflation eased for housing and utilities (0.3% vs 0.6%), furnishings and household equipment (0.2% vs 1.0%), health (2.5% vs 3%), and recreation and culture (0.9% vs 2.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 1.2% in December from 0.6% in the previous month.

The annual consumer inflation rate in Armenia rose by 3.1% in November 2025, easing from 3.7% in the previous month, marking the lowest reading since February. Price growth slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.8% vs 5.6% in October), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6.7% vs 6.8%), health (3% vs 3.5%), and communication (0.6% vs 0.7%). On the other hand, costs increased for furnishings and household equipment (1% vs 0.9%), transport (5% vs 4.9%), recreation and culture (2.5% vs 2.4%), restaurants and hotels (2.7% vs 2.1%), and miscellaneous goods and services (2.4% vs 1.8%), while prices declined softer for clothing and footwear (-0.2% vs -0.9%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices grew by 0.6% in November from 0.3% in the previous two months.
