Argentina Retail Sales Growth Eases in September

Retail sales in Argentina increased by 18.9% in September 2025 compared to the same period last year at current prices, down from August’s 25.1% increase.

Most retail sectors slowed, such as clothing, footwear and leather goods (8.8% vs. 14.8% in August), electronics and IT (4.0% vs. 12.9%), bookstores and stationery stores (18.8% vs. 25.3%), pharmacies and perfumeries (20.0% vs. 27.8%), toys (27.3% vs. 37.9%), and food courts and restaurants (41.8% vs. 51.1%), while leisure and recreation accelerated (130.3% vs. 64.7%).

When adjusted to constant prices, retail sales fell 3.4% year-on-year, a deterioration from the 1.9% decline in August.

Argentina’s retail sales rose 17.3% year-on-year in November 2025 to ARS 572,044.1 million, accelerating from a 15.1% increase in October. At current prices, the strongest gains were recorded in patio de comidas, alimentos y kioscos (37.8%), amoblamientos, decoración y textiles para el hogar (41.9%), librería y papelería (39.8%) and juguetería (27.2%). Sales in the City of Buenos Aires grew 20.8% to ARS 178,366.8 million, while Greater Buenos Aires posted a 16.9% rise to ARS 184,210.7 million. At constant prices, however, retail sales fell 2.3% year-on-year to ARS 6,587.6 million.

Argentina Retail Sales Grow at Slower Pace in October
Argentina’s retail sales rose 15.1% year-on-year in October 2025 to ARS 591,865.6 million, easing from an 18.9% increase in September. At current prices, the strongest gains were recorded in food courts, food, and kiosks (39.0%), furniture and home décor (39.0%), bookstores and stationery (30.3%), and toys (24.9%). Sales in the City of Buenos Aires grew 17.0% to ARS 178,563.3 million, while Greater Buenos Aires posted a 13.4% rise to ARS 187,897.9 million. At constant prices, however, retail sales fell 4.7% year-on-year to ARS 6,909.6 million.
