Argentine Retail Sales Growth Slows Further

Retail sales in Argentina increased by 45.1% in May 2025 compared to the same period last year at current prices, easing from the 66.9% increase recorded in the previous month.
Most retail sectors showed slower growth, such as food courts and restaurants (64.1% vs.
74.1%), clothing, footwear and leather goods (32.9% vs.
53.2%) and pharmacies and perfumeries (48.5% vs.
50.5%), toys (72% vs.
80.6%) and electronics and IT (58.9% vs.
93.8%).
On the other hand, leisure and recreation (141.1% vs.
123.6%) and bookstores and stationery stores (48.2% vs.
42.3%) were the few sectors with a significant increase.
When adjusted to constant prices, retail sales rose 6.2% year-on-year, down from the 19.2% increase in April.
