Albania Trade Deficit Narrows in February

Albania’s trade deficit narrowed to ALL 34 billion in February 2025 from ALL 42 billion in the same month of the previous year.
Imports declined 8.6% year-on-year to ALL 68 billion, with the biggest negative contributors being machinery, equipment, and spare parts (-9.6 pp), wood and paper products (-0.4 pp), and leather goods (-0.2 pp).
Among trading partners, the largest declines in exports were recorded with Italy (-14.1%), North Macedonia (-22.6%), and Austria (-0.4%).
Meanwhile, exports fell at a softer rate of 4.6% to ALL 65 billion, with construction materials and metals (-6.3 pp), textiles and footwear (-1.7 pp), and chemical and plastic products (-1.0 pp) contributing negatively.
The sharpest declines in import values were from Italy (-2.5%), Turkey (-41.2%), and Germany (-12.1%).
For the first two months of the year, the trade deficit decreased to ALL 63 billion from ALL 72 billion.
