The FAO Food Price Index rose 1.0% to 128.3 points in April 2025, marking the third consecutive monthly increase, driven by higher prices for cereals, dairy, and meat.
Cereal prices climbed 1.2%, with gains across all major types, including wheat and maize.
Dairy prices rose 2.4%, led by a third straight monthly surge in butter prices, which reached a new all-time high.
Meat prices saw the largest jump, up 3.2%, with pig meat registering the sharpest increase.
In contrast, sugar and vegetable oil prices fell by 3.5% and 2.3%, respectively.
