Vietnam Tourist Arrivals Stay Robust

International arrivals to Vietnam rose 16.1% year-on-year to 1.77 million in September 2026, easing from an 18.4% surge in August.

Still, tourism activity continued to benefit from favorable visa policies, promotional efforts and attractive tourism offerings.

Arrivals from Asia increased 9.3%, supported by gains from China (13.8%), Japan (9.0%), Taiwan (18.2%), Malaysia (4.4%), Thailand (4.3%) and Singapore (16.1%).

Visitors from the U.S.

rose 13.9%, while arrivals from Europe surged 72.8%, led by Russia (127.5%), alongside gains from the UK (8.1%), France (16.4%) and Germany (26.7%).

Arrivals from Australia edged up 1.6%, while those from Africa jumped 60.8%.

In the first nine months of 2026, international arrivals increased 14.5% from the same period a year earlier to 17.68 million.

Vietnam Tourist Arrivals Rise to 4-Month High
International arrivals to Vietnam rose 18.4% year-on-year to a four-month high of 1.99 million in August 2026, accelerating sharply from a 6.6% growth in the previous month. Arrivals from China increased 10.4% to 457,000, while Russian visitor numbers more than doubled to 137,000. Meanwhile, visitors from South Korea fell 3.2% to 372,000. In the first eight months of 2026, international arrivals to Vietnam totaled 15.9 million, up 14.4% from the same period a year earlier.

Vietnam Tourist Arrivals Ease to 10-Month Low
International arrivals to Vietnam rose 6.6% year-on-year to a ten-month low of 1.67 million in July 2026, slowing sharply from 14.7% growth in the previous month. Even so, Vietnam’s tourism sector remained supported by favorable visa policies, promotional efforts, diverse tourism offerings, and its natural, cultural, and culinary attractions. Visitors from Asia increased 0.6%, driven by gains from Taiwan (2.1%), Malaysia (8.4%), Singapore (41.8%), Cambodia (38.0%), and the Philippines (39.9%). Arrivals from the Americas climbed 14.5%, with stronger visitor numbers from the United States (20.2%) and Canada (1.9%). Meanwhile, arrivals from Europe surged 34.6%, led by sharp increases in visitors from Russia (118.7%), Germany (7.7%), and Sweden (32.5%). Visitors from Australia also rose 25.2%, while arrivals from Africa increased 20.2%. In the first seven months of 2026, international arrivals to Vietnam totaled 13.92 million, up 13.8% from the same period a year earlier.
