Vietnam Tourist Arrivals Hit 9-Month Low

International arrivals to Vietnam rose 6.6% year-on-year to a ten-month low of 1.67 million in July 2026, slowing sharply from 14.7% growth in the previous month. Even so, Vietnam’s tourism sector remained supported by favorable visa policies, promotional efforts, diverse tourism offerings, and its natural, cultural, and culinary attractions. Visitors from Asia increased 0.6%, driven by gains from Taiwan (2.1%), Malaysia (8.4%), Singapore (41.8%), Cambodia (38.0%), and the Philippines (39.9%). Arrivals from the Americas climbed 14.5%, with stronger visitor numbers from the United States (20.2%) and Canada (1.9%). Meanwhile, arrivals from Europe surged 34.6%, led by sharp increases in visitors from Russia (118.7%), Germany (7.7%), and Sweden (32.5%). Visitors from Australia also rose 25.2%, while arrivals from Africa increased 20.2%. In the first seven months of 2026, international arrivals to Vietnam totaled 13.92 million, up 13.8% from the same period a year earlier.

International arrivals to Vietnam rose 14.7% year-on-year to a nine-month low of 1.68 million in June 2026, easing from 16.5% in the previous month. Even so, growth remained broad-based across key source markets. Visitors from Asia, Vietnam's largest tourism market, increased 8.2%, driven by growth from China (9.1%), Japan (15.6%), Malaysia (34.9%), Thailand (20.1%), and Singapore (32.3%). Arrivals from the Americas climbed 14.5%, supported by stronger visitor numbers from the United States (14.0%) and Canada (21.7%). Meanwhile, arrivals from Europe surged 67.4%, led by a sharp increase in visitors from Russia (151.1%), alongside gains from the United Kingdom (13.3%), France (18.5%), and Germany (23.4%). Visitor numbers from Australia rose 26.7%, while arrivals from Africa increased 28.4%. In the first six months of 2026, international arrivals to Vietnam totaled 12.25 million, up 14.9% from the same period a year earlier.

International arrivals to Vietnam rose 16.5% year-on-year to a seven-month low of 1.78 million in May 2026, following a 22.8% surge in the previous month. Despite the moderation, growth remained broad-based across key source markets. Visitors from Asia, Vietnam's largest tourism market, increased 9.7%, supported by growth from China (8.9%), Japan (18.7%), Taiwan (12.6%), Malaysia (17.3%), and Thailand (9.0%). Arrivals from the Americas climbed 18.5%, underpinned by stronger visitor numbers from the United States (16.4%) and Canada (31.4%). Meanwhile, arrivals from Europe surged 64.0%, led by a sharp increase in visitors from Russia (159.8%), alongside growth from the United Kingdom (10.3%) and France (21.8%). Visitor numbers from Australia rose 30.4%, while arrivals from Africa increased 19.0%. In the first five months of 2026, international arrivals to Vietnam totaled 10.57 million, up 14.9% from the same period a year earlier.
