Uruguay Inflation Eases in March

Uruguay's annual inflation eased to 2.94% in March 2026 from 3.11% in February, the lowest rate since August 1956.
Price increases slowed across most categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages fell to 2.43% from 4.32%, and housing and utilities declined to 3.99% from 5.01%.
Deflation deepened in clothing and footwear to 4.33% from 3.86%, while transport deflation eased to 2.2% from 3.58%.
Prices rose faster in information and communication at 3.76% from 3.53%, and recreation, sports and culture at 2.85% from 2.49%.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.41%, accelerating from 0.35% in February.
