Tunisia GDP Annual Growth Slows in Q1

Tunisia’s economy expanded by 2.6% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, easing from 2.7% growth in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Growth was driven mainly by the services sector, which rose 2.2%, supported by stronger activity in information and communication (4.1% versus 3.7%) and transport services (1.7% versus 0.2%).

Manufacturing output increased by 3.1%, mainly due to food processing industries (15.1% versus 6.1%).

Meanwhile, contractions in oil and natural gas extraction eased (-4.8% versus -13.8%) while activity slowed in electricity and gas distribution and generation (5.7% versus 10.6%) and in the mining sector (3.7% versus 12.8%).

Compared with the previous quarter, Tunisia’s economy contracted by 0.3% in Q1 2026, reversing a 1% gain in the previous quarter.

Tunisia GDP Annual Growth Advances to 2.7% in Q4
Tunisia’s GDP grew 2.7% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2025, accelerating from a 2.4% increase in the previous three-month period. Growth strengthened in agriculture, forestry, and fishing (12.3% vs 11.9% in Q3), construction (4.1% vs 2.1%), manufacture of other non-metallic products (4.2% vs 1.7%), production and distribution of gas (10.6% vs 5.8%), trade and repair services (2.1% vs 1.5%), accommodation and catering (7.2% vs 7.1%), and the information and communication sector (3.7% vs 2.7%). Meanwhile, output growth slowed in the mining sector (12.8% vs 31.7%), chemical industries (1.3% vs 3.4%), and transport and storage (0.2% vs 0.3%). On a quarterly basis, GDP advanced 1.0% after showing no growth in the previous quarter. For the full year 2025, Tunisia's economy expanded 2.5%.

Tunisia GDP Annual Growth Eases to 2.4% in Q3
Tunisia’s GDP grew 2.4% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025, slowing from a 3.2% increase in Q2, which had been the strongest growth since Q3 2022. The slowdown in growth came amid softer performances across several key sectors: the mining sector (31.7% vs 39.5% in Q2), construction (3.9% vs 9.0%), trade and repair services (1.5% vs 2.8%), chemical industries (2.4% vs 11.9%), and transport and storage (0.3% vs. 3.0%). Meanwhile, output growth accelerated for agriculture, forestry, and fishing (11.5% vs 9.8%), accommodation and catering (7.1% vs 7.0%), information and communication sector (2.7% vs 1.5%), and production and distribution of gas (5.8% vs 3.4%). On a quarterly basis, GDP was unchanged, following an upwardly revised 1.9% expansion in Q2, which was the fastest quarterly growth since Q4 2021.
