Seychelles Inflation Rate Lowest in 6 Months

The annual inflation rate in Seychelles slowed to 0.30% in October 2025, marking its lowest level since April, down from 0.51% in September.

Consumer prices for non-food products remained largely stagnant following a 0.34% increase in September, as the drop in housing and utility costs (-0.43% vs 1.05%) offset a modest rebound in transport prices (0.15% versus -0.86%).

Inflation for other food items, excluding fish, also edged lower to 2.29% from 2.37%.

Meanwhile, fish prices rose by 1.2% in October, recording their first increase in eight months after a steep decline of 6.13% in the previous period.

On a monthly basis, overall consumer prices fell by 0.21% in October, following a more modest decline of 0.05% in September.

The annual inflation rate in Seychelles fell to 0.22% in December 2025, following a 0.02% modest increase in November. This marked the first contraction in consumer prices in nine months and the lowest reading since February 2024, as costs declined sharply for fish (-6.72% vs -0.95% in November) and other food items excluding fish (-0.95% vs 2.24%), while prices fell softer for non-food products (-0.01% vs -0.29%). Among non-food items, price growth eased for miscellaneous goods and services (1.14% vs 1.52%). Additionally, costs declined for clothing and footwear (-0.61% vs 0.33%) and recreation and culture (-5.45% vs -5.42%). Meanwhile, prices increased for alcoholic beverages (4.35% vs 3%), transport (2.28% vs 1.27%) and health (1.62% vs 1%), while deflation slowed for furniture and household equipment (-1.38% vs -1.66%) and housing and utilities (-2.24% vs -2.26%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.09% in December, easing from 0.24% in the preceding period.

Seychelles Consumer Prices Flat in November
Consumer prices in Seychelles were unchanged from a year ago in November 2025, following a 0.30% increase in October. Prices rose at a slower pace for other food items excluding fish (2.24% vs 2.29% in October), and declined for non-food products (-0.29% vs 0%) and fish (-0.95% vs 1.20%). Among non-food items, price growth eased for clothing and footwear (0.33% vs 1.21%) and miscellaneous goods and services (1.52% vs 1.61%). Decreases were also observed in prices for housing and utilities (-2.26% vs -0.43%) and furniture and household equipment (-1.66% vs 0.49%). In contrast, prices accelerated for transport (1.27% vs 0.15%) and alcoholic beverages (3% vs 0.05%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.24% in November, rebounding from 0.21% fall in October.
