Saudi Industrial Output Growth Accelerates 9.3% in September

Industrial production in Saudi Arabia climbed by 10.4% year-on-year in November 2025, from an 8.9% gain in the previous month. This marked the strongest growth since October 2022, as output increased at a faster pace in oil activities (12.9% vs 10.8% in October), amid higher production in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (14.5% vs 8%) and the extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas (12.6% vs 11.5%). Meanwhile, output for non-oil activities was unchanged at 4.4%, despite a jump in manufacturing activity (8.1% vs 5.5%), supported by the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products and manufacture of food products. Output also accelerated in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (10.2% vs 8.5%), while it declined in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply (-4.3% vs 5.1%). On a monthly basis, industrial activity fell 0.7% in November, easing from a revised 1% decline in the previous month.

Industrial production in Saudi Arabia rose by 8.9% year-on-year in October 2025, slowing from a 9.3% gain in the previous month. The slowdown was primarily driven by softer growth in non-oil activities (4.4% vs 7.6% in September), as output increased at a slower pace for manufacturing (5.5% vs 6.8%), particularly in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (9.6% vs 8.1%) and the manufacture of food products (1.9% vs 13.1%). Output also moderated for electricity, gas, and air-conditioning supply (5.1% vs 12.5%). Meanwhile, output accelerated in oil activities (10.8% vs 10%), mainly due to higher output in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (8% vs 5.6%). However, output increased at a softer pace for water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (8.5% vs 9.2%). On a monthly basis, industrial activity eased to 0.3% from an upwardly revised 2.1% in September, marking its lowest reading since April.

The pickup was mainly driven by faster growth in oil activities (10.1% vs 8.3% in August), supported by a sharp rise in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (11.0% vs 8.9%). Growth also accelerated in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (9.2% vs 6.0%). Non-oil activities expanded at a faster pace (7.3% vs 4.4%), boosted by higher manufacturing output (6.5% vs 3.7%), particularly in paper and paper products (3.5% vs 3.2%) and chemicals and chemical products (9.2% vs 8.6%). Output growth also strengthened for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (12.6% vs 8.7%). On a monthly basis, industrial activity rose 1.9%, following a downwardly revised 1.0% increase in August.
