Qatar’s annual inflation rate eased to 2.20% in May 2026 from 2.84% in the previous month.
This marked the lowest reading since December last year, driven by slower price increases for miscellaneous goods and services (12.52% vs. 13.82% in April), restaurants and hotels (0.31% vs. 0.90%), furniture and household equipment (0.74% vs. 0.81%), and communication (0.53% vs. 0.75%), while health prices slipped into deflation (-0.09% vs. 0.09%).
These developments more than offset faster inflation in food and beverages (11.71% vs. 10.41%) and clothing and footwear (5.48% vs. 4.71%).
In addition, transport prices declined at a much faster pace (-2.97% vs. -0.55%), while recreation and culture remained in deflation, with prices falling more sharply (-5.67% vs. -3.18%).
Tobacco prices were unchanged, while housing, water, electricity, and other fuels recorded a 2.68% increase after the category was not reported in April.
On a monthly basis, the CPI fell 0.51%, following a 0.92% decline in April.
