Pakistan Wholesale Inflation at 5-Month High

Wholesale price inflation in Pakistan rose to 13.33% year-on-year in September 2026 from 11.82% in the previous month, marking the strongest reading in five months.
Costs increased for other transportable goods (34.31% vs 26.80% in August) and ores, minerals, electricity, gas, and water (7.28% vs 1.87%).
Meanwhile, prices slowed for agriculture, forestry, and fishery (7.29% vs 9.49%) and food, beverages, tobacco, textiles, and leather products (6.56% vs 8.10%), driven largely by softer inflation for food, beverages, and tobacco (8.04% vs 10.51%), while costs rose faster for textiles and apparel (2.46% vs 2.16%) and leather products (20.64% vs 19.21%).
Inflation also edged lower for metal products, machinery, and equipment (5.14% vs 5.16%).
On a monthly basis, wholesale prices rose by 1.9% in September, after a 2.0% increase in August.
