Mongolia Inflation Rate Slows in November

The annual inflation rate in Mongolia slowed to 8.2% in November 2025, following an eight-month high of 9.2% in the previous month.

Prices moderated mainly for housing and utilities (5.9% vs 19.3% in October), restaurants and hotels (11.0% vs 11.3%), and health (5.8% vs 5.9%).

Meanwhile, inflation picked up food and non-alcoholic beverages (12.0% vs 11.8%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.6% vs 5.3%), clothing, footwear, and cloth (7.7% vs 6.7%), furnishing and household equipment (7.2% vs 7.0%), transport (4.2% vs 4.0%), recreation and culture (7.1% vs 5.5%), and miscellaneous goods and services (10.2% vs 8.9%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.6% in November from a 0.7% increase in the preceding period.

The annual inflation rate in Mongolia eased to 7.5% in December 2025, from 8.2% in the previous month. It marked the lowest reading since October 2024, as prices moderated across all major categories, namely food and non-alcoholic beverages (11.3% vs 12% in November), transport (2.2% vs 4.3%), and housing and utilities (4.6% vs 5.8%). Inflation also increased at a softer pace for clothing and footwear (6.9% vs 7.8%), furnishings and household equipment (7% vs 7.2%), recreation and culture (7% vs 7.1%), and restaurants and hotels (10.5% vs 10.9%). Meanwhile, costs accelerated for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6.8% vs 5.6%), health (6.2% vs 5.9%), communication (1.5% vs 1.4%), and miscellaneous goods and services (11% vs 10.2%), and prices remained unchanged for education (12.8%) and insurance and financial services (15.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices stood at 0.6% in December, unchanged from the previous month.

The annual inflation rate in Mongolia rose to 9.2% in October 2025 from 9% in the previous month, marking the highest reading since February. Prices increased at a faster pace for food and non-alcoholic beverages (11.9% vs 10.6% in September), recreation and culture (5.5% vs 5.3%), and miscellaneous goods and services (8.9% vs 8.1%). Additionally, price growth was steady for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.3%), furnishings, household equipment and tools (7%), transport (4.1%), insurance and financial services (15.3%), and education (12.8%). On the other hand, costs moderated for clothing and footwear (6.7% vs 7.9%), health (5.9% vs 6.5%), housing and utilities (19.3% vs 19.4%), communication (1.4% vs 1.5%), and restaurants and hotels (11.3% vs 11.4%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.6% in October from 0.2% in the previous month.
