Mongolia Inflation Rate Hits 14-Month Low

The annual inflation rate in Mongolia eased to 7.5% in December 2025, from 8.2% in the previous month.

It marked the lowest reading since October 2024, as prices moderated across all major categories, namely food and non-alcoholic beverages (11.3% vs 12% in November), transport (2.2% vs 4.3%), and housing and utilities (4.6% vs 5.8%).

Inflation also increased at a softer pace for clothing and footwear (6.9% vs 7.8%), furnishings and household equipment (7% vs 7.2%), recreation and culture (7% vs 7.1%), and restaurants and hotels (10.5% vs 10.9%).

Meanwhile, costs accelerated for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6.8% vs 5.6%), health (6.2% vs 5.9%), communication (1.5% vs 1.4%), and miscellaneous goods and services (11% vs 10.2%), and prices remained unchanged for education (12.8%) and insurance and financial services (15.3%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices stood at 0.6% in December, unchanged from the previous month.

Mongolia Inflation Rate Slows to 18-Month Low
The annual inflation rate in Mongolia slowed to 6.5% in February 2026 from 7.5% in each of the previous two months, marking the lowest reading since August 2024. Prices increased at a softer pace for food and non-alcoholic beverages (12.3% vs 12.6% in January), clothing, footwear, and cloth (6.5% vs 6.6%), housing and utilities (2% vs 4.3%), health, medical care and services (6.2% vs 6.5%), and miscellaneous goods and services (8.7% vs 8.9%). At the same time, transport costs declined 2.7%, reversing from a 2.1% rise in January. Meanwhile, inflation picked up for furnishing and household equipment (6.3% vs 5.3%), restaurants and hotels (10.6% vs 8.5%), recreation and culture (6.5% vs 6.1%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.5% vs 7.4%), while prices remained steady for education (12.8%), communication (1.5%), and insurance and financial services (3.9%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.5% in February, easing from a 1.1% increase in the preceding period.

Mongolia’s annual inflation rate stood at 7.5% in January 2026, unchanged from the previous month. Price growth moderated for transport (2.1% vs 2.2% in December 2025), clothing and footwear (6.6% vs 6.9%), housing and utilities (4.3% vs 4.6%), miscellaneous goods and services (8.9% vs 11%), and furnishings and household equipment (5.3% vs 7%), while costs remained unchanged for communication (1.5%) and education services (12.8%). Meanwhile, prices continued to increase for food and non-alcoholic beverages (12.6% vs 11.3%), health (6.5% vs 6.2%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.4% vs 6.8%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.6% in January, matching the same pace as the previous two months.
