Malta Inflation Rate Unchanged in March

Malta’s annual inflation rate stood at 2.3% in March 2026, unchanged from the previous two months.
It remained the lowest reading since March 2025, as prices were steady for health (3.3%), while costs increased for housing and utilities (2.4% vs 1.7% in February), furnishings and household equipment (2.4% vs 1.6%), recreation and culture (4.6% vs 4.1%), and restaurants and hotels (3.9% vs 3.6%).
At the same time, deflation slowed for information and communication (-3.6% vs -4.1%) and insurance and financial services (-0.3% vs -1.1%).
Meanwhile, costs decreased for food and alcoholic beverages (3.2% vs 3.5%), transportation (2% vs 2.1%), education (3.6% vs 4.4%), and miscellaneous goods and services (3.6% vs 3.9%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 1.2% in March, following a 0.4% growth in the preceding period.
