Malta Q1 GDP Lowest Since 2022

Malta’s economy grew by 3% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, slowing from an upwardly revised 3.1% increase in the previous three-month period.

This marked the weakest economic growth since the third quarter of 2022, as both household consumption (0.8% vs.

2.5% in Q4) and government spending (0.6% vs.

2.2%) eased.

Conversely, gross fixed capital formation (1.1% vs.

-0.8%) rebounded.

On the external front, both exports (3.3% vs.

4.1%) and imports (2.8% vs.

4.9%) grew at a slower pace.
