North Macedonia Industrial Output Rises for 2nd Month

Industrial production in North Macedonia rose by 2.8% year-on-year in October 2025, marking a second consecutive month of growth, following a 2.7% gain in September.

Output rebounded sharply for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (26.5% vs -2.5% in September), while the decline in mining and quarrying eased (-0.2% vs -1.7%).

Meanwhile, growth in manufacturing production decelerated (0.4% vs 3.1%).

For the January–October period, industrial production was 2.4% higher than in the same period a year earlier.

North Macedonia's industrial production rose 2.3% year-on-year in December 2025, rebounding from a 2.8% drop in November. Manufacturing output increased 4.5%, driven mainly by higher production of food products, beverages, rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic mineral products, motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, and furniture. In contrast, production declined in mining and quarrying (-6.6%) and in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-3.9%). By main industrial groupings, output rose sharply for intermediate goods excluding energy (9.8%) and increased for non-durable consumer goods (2.4%), while it fell for energy (-3.9%), capital goods (-0.8%) and durable consumer goods (-3.8%). For 2025 as a whole, industrial production expanded 1.9% compared with 2024. The largest positive contributions to December’s growth came from food products (3.5%), beverages (34.2%) and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (3.5%).

Industrial production in North Macedonia fell by 2.8% from the previous year in November of 2025, erasing the 2.8% increase from the previous month. Output contracted for energy (-8.5%) and capital goods (-4.7%), amid lower production of metal ores (-11.1%). Production also fell for manufacturing (-2%) amid a drop in textiles (-10.5%) and clothing (-14.4%). Conversely, the production of intermediate products with exclusion of energy rose sharply (7.7%). The Macedonian industrial output expanded 1.9% in the year up to November.
