Prices continued to advance for: food and non-alcoholic beverages (2 percent vs 1.6 percent in November); transport (8.4 percent vs 7.9 percent); restaurants and hotels (4.2 percent vs 3.9 percent) and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7 percent vs 6.8 percent). Meanwhile, cost went up at the same pace for housing and utilities (0.2 percent) while fell for clothing and footwear (-0.3 percent vs 0.6 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.1 percent, following a 0.2 percent increase in November.

The most important trade partners were: Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria. The trade deficit increased to $1801.7 million, compared to $1768.5 million in the same period of 2016.

Output grew faster for manufacturing (5.7 percent compared to 2.1 percent in October), mainly driven by food (2.7 percent compared to -1.4 percent), basic pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical preparations (18.2 percent compared to 0.9 percent) and rubber and plastic (10.4 percent compared to 9.4 percent). In addition, mining and quarrying was flat after a 10.6 percent decrease in the prior month. Meanwhile, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply fell to -4.9 percent from a 6.5 percent rise in October. Considering the January to November period, industrial activity edged up 0.5 percent.
