Kyrgyzstan Inflation Rate Highest Since 2023

The annual inflation rate in Kyrgyzstan increased to 7% in February 2025 from 6.7% in the previous month.

This marked the highest reading since December 2023, driven by rising costs for food & non-alcoholic beverages (7.6% vs 6.1% in January), education (24.8% vs 24.6%), and miscellaneous goods and services (3.8% vs 1.6%).

Meanwhile, inflation slowed for clothing and footwear (3.5% vs 4.4%), transport (2.9% vs 8.7%), and restaurants and hotels (2.4% vs 4.4%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 1% in February, following a 0.6% gain in the preceding period.

The annual inflation rate in Kyrgyzstan rose to 9.7% in February 2026 from 9.5% in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since July 2023, driven by higher costs for clothing and footwear (5.1% vs 3.9% in January), household items (7.3% vs 6.2%), and recreation and cultural activities (12.2% vs 10%). Prices also increased for restaurants and hotels (15.9% vs 6.7%) and miscellaneous goods and services (18% vs 16.1%). On the other hand, inflation softened for food and non-alcoholic beverages (8.8% vs 9.9%), housing and utilities (14.1% vs 14.9%), and education (22.4% vs 23%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 1.2% in February, accelerating from a 0.8% gain in the preceding period.

The annual inflation rate in Kyrgyzstan inched up to 9.5% in January 2026 from 9.4% in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since August, driven by faster price increases for housing and utilities (14.9% vs 14% in December), household appliances (6.2% vs 4.8%), transport (9.4% vs 7.3%), and miscellaneous goods and services (16.1% vs 14.9%). Additionally, inflation remained unchanged for food and non-alcoholic beverages (at 9.9%). On the other hand, costs increased at a slower pace for healthcare (11.2% vs 11.6%), education (23% vs 26.4%), and restaurants and hotels (6.7% vs 7.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.8% in January, easing from 1% gain in the preceding period.

Kyrgyzstan Inflation Accelerates to 9.4% in December 2025
Kyrgyzstan’s annual inflation rate rose to 9.4% in December 2025 from 9.2% in the previous month. Price growth was notable in food and non-alcoholic beverages (+9.9%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+8.0%), non-food products (+7.8%), and service tariffs (+11.2%). Regionally, all areas saw price increases, with Osh recording the highest overall rise (+11.6%), driven by non-food products (+12.0%) and services (+13.5%). The Chui region experienced the largest increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages (+13.1%), while Issyk-Kul saw the highest inflation for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+14.4%).
