Kazakhstan Producer Inflation Accelerates Further

Annual producer inflation in Kazakhstan accelerated to 16% in May 2026, marking a new high since October 2022, compared to 11.1% in April.

Prices of mining and quarrying soared again (22.7% vs 10.1% in April), particularly for crude oil and natural gas production (32%) and for production of mineral raw materials for the chemical industry and fertilizers (58.8%).

Prices also increased at a faster pace for supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and air conditioning (11.4% versus 9.6%) and water supply, sanitation, waste collection, treatment and disposal and pollution control activities (7.6% versus 7.3%).

On the other hand, cost for manufacturing slowed again (12% vs 13.2%).

Compared to the previous month, the PPI rose 3.2%, following a 4.2% jump in April.

Kazakhstan Producer Inflation at 2022-Highs
Kazakhstan's annual producer inflation accelerated to 11.1% in April 2026, up from 7.5% in March. This marks the highest level since October 2022, as prices rebounded strongly for mining and quarrying (10.1% versus -3.4%), particularly crude oil production prices (10.6% versus -11.9%). Additionally, inflation accelerated for water supply, sanitation, waste collection, treatment and disposal and pollution control activities (7.3% versus 5.2%) and edged up for supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and air conditioning (9.6% versus 9.2%). On the other hand, price growth in the manufacturing sector eased to 13.2% from 18.0%. On a monthly basis, producer prices increased by 4.2%, accelerating from a 1.3% rise in March.

Kazakhstan Producer Inflation Highest in 5 Months
Kazakhstan's annual producer inflation rose 7.5% in March 2026, up from 6.4% in February. This marks the highest level in 5 months, as prices increased slightly for manufacturing (18% versus 17.8%), while inflation slowed for supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning (9.2% versus 13.6%) and water supply, sanitation, waste collection, treatment, disposal and pollution control activities (5.2% versus 5.3%). Meanwhile, deflation eased further for mining and quarrying (-3.4% versus -6.1%). On a monthly basis, producer prices increased 1.3%, following a 2.1% increase in February.
