Kazakhstan Inflation Rate Hits 13-Month Low

The annual inflation rate in Kazakhstan slowed to 10.6% in April 2026 from 11% in the previous month, marking its lowest reading since March 2025.

The main downward pressure came from food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.5% vs 4.7% in March), while inflation remained unchanged for housing and utilities (0.6%), transport (1%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.2%), household items (0.5%), communication (0.3%), education (0.2%), restaurants and hotels (0.2%), and miscellaneous goods and services (1%).

In contrast, costs increased at a faster pace for clothing and footwear (0.9% vs 0.1%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up to 0.8% from 0.6% in March.

Price growth slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.7% vs 5.2% in February) and housing and utilities (0.6% vs 0.7%). Meanwhile, costs remained stable for clothing and footwear (1%), household items, appliances, and routine home maintenance (0.5%), healthcare (0.9%), recreation and culture (0.5%), education (0.2%), transport (1%), and alcoholic drinks and tobacco products (0.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices slowed to 0.6% in March from 1.1% in February.

Prices moderated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.2% vs 5.4% in January), housing and utilities (0.7% vs 0.8%), transport (1% vs 1.1%), and restaurants and hotels (0.2% vs 0.3%). Meanwhile, costs remained stable for clothing and footwear (1%), household items, appliances, and routine home maintenance (0.5%), healthcare (0.9%), recreation and culture (0.5%), and education (0.2%), while alcoholic drinks and tobacco products rose slightly (0.2% vs 0.1%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up to 1.1% in February from 1% in January.
