Jordan Industrial Output Rebounds in May

Industrial output in Jordan increased 0.34% year-on-year in May 2026, recovering from a 1.19% contraction recorded in the previous month, which represented the weakest reading in nearly two years.
The rebound was primarily supported by a 0.94% year-on-year increase in manufacturing output, the largest component of the index accounting for 88.7% of total industrial activity, after the sector had previously recorded a 2.44% decline.
Meanwhile, mining and quarrying output declined sharply by 6.86% following a 12.70% expansion in the prior month, while electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply decreased 1.91% after rising 6.14% previously.
On a monthly basis, industrial production increased significantly by 4.68%, reversing a 5.22% contraction in the previous month.
For the January-May 2026 period, industrial output recorded a marginal 0.10% increase compared with the same period a year earlier.
