Producer prices in Jordan rose 4.8 percent year-on-year in March of 2018, easing from a 5.8 percent gain in the previous month, as prices went up at a softer pace for mining & quarrying (1.1 percent compared to 10.9 percent in February). Meantime, cost of electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply fell less (-0.1 percent compared to -0.8 percent) and prices advanced faster for manufacturing (23.8 percent compared to 5.8 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped 0.4 percent, following a 2.2 percent rise in February of 2017.

Inflation rate in Jordan increased to 4.6 percent in April 2018, from 4.4 percent in the previous month. It was the highest inflation rate since February 2017, as prices advanced faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.9 percent from 3.5 percent in March); housing (3.3 percent from 3.2 percent); transport (9.8 percent from 8.7 percent) and other goods & services (2.2 percent from 2.1 percent). In addition, inflation was steady for education (3 percent); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (14.3 percent) and culture & recreation (2.4 percent). On the other hand, prices rose at a softer pace for furniture & household equipment (2.2 percent from 2.3 percent); health (6.3 percent from 6.4 percent) and restaurant & hotels (7.5 percent from 8.3 percent) and fell further for clothing & footwear (-2.9 percent from -1.6 percent). Monthly inflation rate edged down to 0.2 percent, from 0.4 percent in March.
