Hungary Gross Wage Growth Slows in October

Hungary’s gross average wages grew by 8.7% year-on-year to HUF 692,700 in October 2025, easing from a 9.5% increase in the previous month.

All major subsectors recorded slower increases, including the private sector (8.1% vs 8.8% in September), public sector (10.8% vs 12.2%), and the non-profit sector (8.9% vs 9.9%).

Without the impact of one-off payments and bonuses, October wages were 9% higher than in the same period a year earlier, at HUF 668,000.

Considering the January to October period, average gross wages increased by 9.1%.

Hungary’s gross average wage rose by 8.9% year-on-year to HUF 756,400 in November 2025, following an 8.7% rise in the previous month. Wages in the non-profit sector saw an increase of 12% from 8.9%, while wage growth in the private sector stood at 8.1%, unchanged from October. Meanwhile, a slight wage decrease was recorded in the public sector (10.7% vs 10.8%). Excluding one-off payments and bonuses, November wages were 8.7% higher than in the same period a year earlier, at HUF 665,100. Considering the January to November period, average gross wages increased by 9.1%.

Hungary’s gross wage rose by 9.5% year-on-year to HUF 687,078 in September 2025, following an 8.7% increase in the previous month. All major subsectors recorded gains, including the private sector (8.8% vs. 8.5% in August), public sector (12.2% vs. 9.3%), and non-profit sector (9.9% vs. 9.7%). Excluding one-off payments and bonuses, September wages were 9.3% higher than in the same period a year earlier, at HUF 660,400. Considering the January-September period, average gross wages increased by 9.1%.
