Hungary Producer Prices Fall 0.7% in May

Producer prices in Hungary decreased by 0.7% year-on-year in May 2026, reversing a 0.3% rise in the previous month.

Non-domestic output prices continued to drop (-1.8% vs -0.5% in April), while growth in domestic output prices eased (1.9% vs 2.2%).

By sector, manufacturing costs fell further (-2.2% vs -1.1%), driven by sharper declines in transport equipment (-9.1% vs -6.1%) and machinery and equipment n.e.c.

(-5.9% vs -4.4%).

Slower increases were also recorded in prices for mining and quarrying (0.4% vs 1.4%) and electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (7.5% vs 8.0%).

On the other hand, price growth for water collection, treatment, and supply picked up (2.7% vs 2.2%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped by 1.7%, the largest fall since April 2023, following a 1.3% decline in the prior month.

Producer prices in Hungary increased by 0.3% year-on-year in April 2026, easing from a 1.2% rise in the previous month. Prices declined in non-domestic output (-0.5% vs 1.3% in March), while domestic output prices rose (2.2% vs 1.2%). By sector, manufacturing costs fell further (-1.1% vs -0.2%), particularly in transport equipment, machinery and equipment, electrical equipment, and food products, beverages and tobacco products. Costs also moderated in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (8% vs 8.4%), as well as in water collection, treatment, and supply (2.2% vs 4.1%). In contrast, price growth picked up in mining and quarrying (1.4% vs 0.1%). On a monthly basis, producer prices declined by 1.3% in April after a 3.9% increase in the prior period.

Hungary Producer Prices Rise 1.2% in March
Producer prices in Hungary rose by 1.2% year-on-year in March 2026, rebounding from a 3.3% drop in the previous month. This was the first increase in producer prices after four consecutive months of declines, driven by a rebound in prices for both domestic (1.2% vs -3.1% in February) and non-domestic output (1.3% vs -3.3%). By sector, prices for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply surged (8.4% vs -5.6%), while mining and quarrying costs edged up (0.1% vs -7.5%). Additionally, prices for manufacturing decreased at a much slower pace (-0.2% vs -3.1%). Meanwhile, inflation eased for water collection, treatment and supply (4.1% vs 6.0%). On a monthly basis, producer prices increased by 3.9%, following a 0.8% fall in February.
