Hungary Producer Prices Fall to 22-Month Low

Hungary’s producer prices fell by 3.4% year-on-year in December 2025, following a 2.7% decline in the previous month.

This marked the second straight month of producer deflation and the lowest reading since February 2024, as costs dropped further for non-domestic output (-4.1% vs -3.1% in November) and domestic output (-1.9% vs -1.8%).

Among sectors, prices also continued to decline in manufacturing (-3.3% vs -1.9%) and mining and quarrying industry (-5.3% vs -3.8%).

On the other hand, costs held steady for water collection, treatment, and supply (3.7%), while prices fell at a softer pace in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (-4.0% vs -5.6%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices decreased by 0.4% in December, following a 0.3% drop in the preceding period.

Hungary’s producer prices fell by 2.7% year-on-year in November 2025, reversing sharply from a 1.8% rise in the previous month. This marked the first decline in producer prices since May 2024 and the lowest reading in almost two years as costs dropped for non-domestic output (-3.1% vs 2.2% in October) and domestic output (-1.8% vs 0.9%). Among sectors, prices contracted for manufacturing (-2.7% vs 0.3%) and electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (-5.6% vs 2.4%), while prices declined further for mining and quarrying (-3.8% vs -2.2%). On the other hand, costs rose for water collection, treatment, and supply (3.7% vs 3.6%). On a monthly basis, producer prices decreased by 0.3% in November, following a 0.4% gain in the preceding period.

Hungary Producer Inflation at 13-Month Low
Hungary’s annual producer inflation eased to 1.8% in October 2025 from 2.4% in the previous month. This marked the lowest reading since September 2025, as inflation slowed for non-domestic output (2.2% vs 3.3% in September), while it picked up for domestic output (0.9% vs 0.5%). Among sectors, price growth moderated for manufacturing (0.3% vs 1.5%) and water collection, treatment, and supply (3.6% vs 4.3%). At the same time, costs fell for mining and quarrying (-2.2% vs 0.7%). In contrast, prices increased for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (2.4% vs 0.1%). On a monthly basis, producer prices rose by 0.4% in October, rebounding from a 0.4% drop in the preceding period.
