Hungary Construction Output Falls in November

The construction output in Hungary fell by 5.6% year-on-year in November 2025, reversing a 9.7% increase in the previous month.

Output in civil engineering works plunged 20% after a 3.7% gain in October, while building construction increased at a softer pace of 7.7% from 14.7%.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output dropped by 7.3% in November, deepening from a 1.9% decline in the prior month.

Over the January-November period, Hungary’s construction activity increased by 1.6%.

Hungary's construction output increased by 9.7% year-on-year in October 2025, easing from a 17.6% surge in the previous month, which had marked the strongest expansion since February 2022. Growth in civil engineering works slowed sharply to 3.7% from an over one-year high of 17.1% in September, while building construction moderated to 14.7% from a nearly two-year high of 18.3%. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output fell by 1.9% in October, reversing the 16.4% rise recorded in the prior month. Over the January-October period, Hungary’s construction activity increased by 2.5%.

Hungary Construction Output Rises the Most in Over 3 Years
Hungary’s construction output climbed by 17.6% year-on-year in September 2025, marking the largest expansion since February 2022, rebounding from a downwardly revised 14.6% fall in the previous month. Output recovered across both indices, with civil engineering advancing by 17.1% after a 34.7% slump, while building construction grew by 18.3%, shifting from a 1.4% decline in August. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output increased by 16.4%, following a revised 11.3% decline in the preceding period. From the January-September period, Hungary’s construction activity rose by 1.7%.
