Greece Credit Growth at 6-Month High

Total credit extended to the Greek economy rose 5.0% year-on-year in June 2026, accelerating from 4.6% in the previous month and marking the highest growth rate since December 2025.
Credit to the private sector also edged higher to 7.7% from 7.4% in May, while the monthly net flow of credit remained positive at €3,288 million, increasing from €1,315 million in the previous month.
Meanwhile, credit to the general government increased 0.4% after remaining stagnant in the previous month, with the monthly net flow of credit remaining positive at €213 million, although this was down from €329 million in May.
