Greece Industrial Output Falls in July

Industrial output in Greece declined by 1.2% from the previous year in July 2026, reversing from an upwardly revised 1.2% increase in June.

The downturn was driven by sharp contractions in electricity supply (-12.4% vs -3.9%), and water supply (-4.0% vs -2.6%) declined.

Mining and quarrying also remained in contraction, declining 3.5% (vs. -4.3%).

Manufacturing, however, remained in positive territory, although growth eased (1.9% vs 2.6%).

Notable growth was recorded in computers, electronic and optical products (13.6%), machinery and equipment (7.3%), printing and reproduction of recorded products (6.4%), and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (5.1%), while wood and wood products (-7.0%) and leather and related products (-6.2%) saw the sharpest declines.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial activity declined further to -1.7% from -0.3% in the previous month.

Industrial output in Greece rose 5.8% year-on-year in August 2026, rebounding from a revised 1.1% decline in the previous month and highest recorded growth since March 2026. The recovery was led by electricity supply, which surged by 13.2%, reversing a 12.4% contraction in the previous month. Manufacturing growth also strengthened to 4.0% from 2.0% in July, supported by robust gains in motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (269.1%), repair and installation of machinery and equipment (27.8%), textiles (15.6%), and other transport equipment (13.1%). Conversely, wearing apparel (-18.4%), machinery and equipment not elsewhere classified (-6.7%), and basic metals (-4.8%) recorded the steepest declines. Mining and quarrying rebounded (1.5% vs -3.5%), while water supply declined at slower pace (2.5% vs 4.0%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial activity rose 2.0% from -1.8% in the previous month.

Greece Industrial Production Expands for 10th Month
Industrial output in Greece rose by 1.1% from the previous year in June of 2026, slowing from the downwardly revised 3.7% in the previous month. Still, it marked ten consecutive months of growth despite turbulent macroeconomic conditions in the period due to the war in the Middle East and its impact on higher energy prices for goods producers. Growth was supported by manufacturing (2.4%) amid higher output for machinery and equipment (5%), fabricated metal products (2.2%), printing and reproduction of recorded products (8.1%), textiles (2.2%), and food (2.2%). In turn, production fell for mining and quarrying (-3%), electricity supply (-3.8%), and water supply (-2.6%). From the previous month, industrial production eased by 0.4%.
