Georgia Jobless Rate Rises to 14.3% in Q2

The unemployment rate in Georgia fell to 13.3% in the third quarter of 2025 from 13.8% in the corresponding period of the previous year. This marked the lowest reading since the fourth quarter of 2003, as the number of unemployed persons dropped by 12.1 thousand to 213.7 thousand. The jobless rate for women edged down to 11.4% from 11.5% in Q3 2024, while the rate for men slipped to 14.7% from 15.6%. Meanwhile, the employment rate rose to 47.3% from 47.1% a year earlier, even as the number of employed persons declined by 11.7 thousand to 1,396 thousand. The labor force participation rate decreased to 54.5% from 54.7%.

The number of unemployed persons increased by 7.9 thousand to 227.6 thousand. The jobless rate for women went up to 12.2% from 10.9% in Q2 2024, while that for men remained unchanged at 15.9%. Meanwhile, the employment rate fell to 46.4% from 47% a year ago, with the number of employed persons dropping by 21.5 thousand to 1,366.3 thousand. The labor force participation rate edged down to 54.1% from 54.5%.

The unemployment rate in Georgia rose to 14.7% in the first quarter of 2025, from 14% in the corresponding period of the previous year. This marked the highest reading since the fourth quarter of 2023, as the number of unemployed persons increased by 10.8 thousand to 239.4 thousand. The jobless rate for men went up to 17% (vs 16.3% in Q1 2024) while that for women also rose to 11.6% (vs 11.1%). Meanwhile, the employment rate fell to 46.8% from 47.3% a year ago, with the number of employed persons dropping by 7.6 thousand to 1,394.2 thousand. The labor force participation rate edged down to 54.8% from 55%.
