Georgia Producer Inflation Accelerates in August

Producer prices in Georgia rose 5.8% year-on-year in August 2026, accelerating from 5.1% in the previous month.

The acceleration reflected faster price growth in mining and quarrying (20.1% vs 14.4% in July).

Moreover, prices for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply increased (2.6% vs -1.7%), while inflation for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services accelerated (6.3% vs 5.7%).

Meanwhile, manufacturing inflation eased slightly (5.1% vs 5.2%).

Within manufacturing, price growth slowed for chemicals and chemical products (13.3% vs 15.4%) and basic metals (10.1% vs 11.0%), while food product inflation also eased (5.7% vs 6.6%), whereas coke and refined petroleum products accelerated (33.0% vs 6.0%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices rose 0.9% in August, following a 0.7% decline in July.

The moderation reflected slower price growth in mining and quarrying (14.4% vs 15.3% in June), while manufacturing inflation was unchanged at 5.2%. Within manufacturing, price growth slowed for chemicals and chemical products (15.4% vs 19.1%) and coke and refined petroleum products (6.0% vs 18.5%), while food products (6.6% vs 5.8%) and basic metals (11.0% vs. 10.6%) recorded faster increases. Moreover, prices for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply fell (-1.7% vs 4.4%), while inflation for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services slowed (5.7% vs 6.7%). On a monthly basis, producer prices fell 0.7% in July, following a 0.8% decline in June.

Producer prices in Georgia rose 5.9% year-on-year in June 2026, slowing from a 16-month high of 7.1% in the previous month. This marked the lowest reading since February 2026, reflecting slower price growth across most sectors. Inflation moderated in mining and quarrying (15.3% vs. 24.6%) and manufacturing (5.2% vs. 6.5% in May), particularly for coke and refined petroleum products (18.5% vs 52.5%), basic metals (10.6% vs 13.4%), chemicals and chemical products (19.1% vs 23.7%), and food products (5.8% vs 6.5%). On the other hand, price increases accelerated in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (4.4% vs. 1.0%) and water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services (6.7% vs. 6.4%). On a monthly basis, producer prices fell 0.8% in June, after being unchanged in the previous month.
