Georgia Current Account Gap Widens to Highest Since 2016

Georgia’s current account deficit widened to USD 658.91 million in Q1 2025 from USD 318.31 million in the same period last year, marking the largest shortfall since Q4 2016.
The deterioration was mainly driven by a bigger goods trade deficit, which rose to USD 1,739.08 million from USD 1,513.38 million.
The services surplus increased to USD 806.41 million from USD 713.12 million.
Meanwhile, the primary income gap widened to USD 569.53 million from USD 392.87 million, and the secondary income surplus edged down to USD 843.30 million from USD 874.83 million.
