The S&P Global Egypt PMI rose to 49.2 in October 2025 from 48.8 in September, pointing to a slower contraction in the country’s non-oil private sector and the softest decline in business activity in eight months.
New orders fell at the weakest pace in five months, supported by tentative signs of stabilizing market conditions and stronger performance in the manufacturing sector.
Output volumes contracted slightly, while purchasing activity and employment were broadly stable, following months of steady decline.
On the cost front, input prices rose at the fastest rate in five months, driven by the sharpest increase in wages since October 2020, as firms adjusted pay to reflect higher living costs.
Meanwhile, business confidence strengthened compared with September but remained below the long-term trend, as firms remained cautious about persistent cost pressures and uncertain economic conditions.
