Retail sales in Cyprus grew by 5.6% year-on-year in March 2025 from 4.7% in the previous month.
This marked the strongest growth in retail activity since November 2024, primarily attributed to a jump in sales of food, beverages, and tobacco in non-specialised stores (7.1% vs 5.1% in February), other household equipment (7.1% vs 3%), pharmaceuticals, orthopedic goods, and cosmetics (2.8% vs 0.1%), and food, beverages, and tobacco in specialised stores (3.7% vs 1.8%).
Meanwhile, sales slipped for automotive fuel (-1.3% vs 0.3%), and it slowed sharply for ICT equipment (2.1% vs 11.7%), cultural and recreation goods (7.8% vs 17.8%), and clothing and footwear (7.4% vs 9.6%).
In addition, trade not in stores continued to decline (-4.3% vs -1.3%).
On a year-to-date basis, retail sales advanced by 5.3%.
