It was the second straight month of declines in producer prices, as cost continued to decrease for intermediate goods (-2.6 percent from -1.3 percent in June). Meantime, prices slowed for both non-durable consumer goods (0.8 percent from 1.1 percent) and capital goods (1.9 percent from 2.4 percent). On the other hand, prices rebounded for energy (1 percent from -0.2 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices went up 0.2 percent, recovering from a 1 percent drop in June.

In addition, mining & quarrying production fell (-0.6 percent from 4.9 percent) and electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply continued to decrease (-5.7 percent from -7.2 percent). On a monthly basis, industrial production rose 1.5 percent, recovering from a 1.3 percent decline in June. During the January to July period, industrial activity plunged 4.5 percent over the same period a year earlier.
