It was the weakest growth in industrial production since December, as output slowed for electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply (21.5 percent vs 32.0 percent in March) while it shrank more for manufacturing (-4.1 percent vs -1.3 percent). Meanwhile, the mining sector recovered (0.8 percent vs -11.0 percent). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production decreased 1.7 percent, after being flat in March. Year-to-date, industrial activity surged 4.3 percent.

On the other hand, prices slowed for energy (1.5 percent from 5.7 percent), capital goods (0.7 percent from 1.3 percent) and non-durable consumer goods (1.1 percent from 1.3 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices went up 1.2 percent, after a 1.9 percent fall in March.
