The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates cut the base rate of its overnight deposit facility by 50 bps to 5.4% in September 2024, tracking the cut in the US federal funds rate.
The cut came for the first time since 2020 as the Emirati Dirham is pegged to the dollar.
The central bank also decided to maintain the interest rate applicable to borrowing short-term liquidity from the CBUAE at 50 basis points above the Base Rate for all standing credit facilities.
