Private investment in Thailand increased 2.2% month-on-month in August 2026, rebounding from a 0.3% decline in the previous month.
The increase was supported by higher domestic purchases of electrical machinery and medical equipment, alongside increased imports of capital goods, particularly computers and office equipment.
Vehicle investment also picked up, helped by higher passenger car registrations and aircraft imports, although pickup truck registrations fell.
In contrast, construction investment edged lower, mainly due to weaker non-residential activity, including factory construction in industrial estates and commercial buildings, while residential construction was broadly stable.
