The economy of Senegal advanced by 5.8% year-on-year in Q1 2026, the most since Q2 2025, following a 4.2% growth in the previous period.
The expansion was mainly driven by strong performance in the secondary sector (+8.6%), followed by the primary sector (+5.7%), the tertiary sector (+5.2%), and, to a lesser extent, net taxes on goods and services (+1.6%).
Excluding hydrocarbons, GDP rose by 4.7%.
From a demand perspective, growth was mainly supported by higher exports (+8.2%) and final consumption (+4.9%).
However, gross fixed capital formation declined by 7.5%.
On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the GDP rose by 1.2%.
