Rwanda Inflation Rate at 7.10 percent  
Consumer prices in Rwanda increased 7.1% year-on year in September of 2017, after a 7.2% gain in August. The inflation rate slowed for the seventh consecutive month to the lowest since June of 2016, as prices rose less for: food and non-alcoholic beverages (8.3% compared to 10.3% in August); miscellaneous goods and services (2.5% compared to 3.4%); clothing and footwear (4.5% compared to 5.2%); alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (8.9% compared to 9%); furnishings and household equipment (2.5% compared to 3.1%) and recreation and culture (0.6% compared to 1.8%); and fell for restaurants and hotels (-2.3% compared to -1.4%); communication (-2.5% compared to -1.7%) and education (-1.4% compared to -0.8%). Meanwhile, prices increased at a faster pace for: housing and utilities (2.4% compared to 0.9%); transport (1.5% compared to 1.2%) and health (6.8% compared to 6.4%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.5%, after a 0.6% gain in the prior month.

Rwanda Producer Prices Change at 11.60 percent  
Producer prices in Rwanda jumped 11.6 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2017, compared to a 11.4 percent rise in the previous quarter. It is the biggest increase in producer prices since the series began in the first quarter of 2012. Main upward pressure came from mining and quarrying (23.7 percent vs 47.1 percent in Q1) and manufacturing (16 percent vs 14.1). Meanwhile, cost of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply declined 13.6 percent (the same pace as in Q1). On a quarterly basis, producer prices went down 0.04 percent compared to a 3.1 percent fall in the first quarter of 2017.
