Philippines Producer Inflation Edges Up to 3.1% in August

Producer prices for manufacturing in the Philippines rose 3.1% year-on-year in August 2026, following a 3% increase in each of the previous two months.

The main upward pressure came from prices of coke and refined petroleum products (2.3% vs 1.8% in July), which contributed 35.2% to the increase in the overall growth rate.

Other notable contributors included rubber and plastic products (2.2% vs 1.1%) and food products (1.6% vs 1.5%), particularly the processing and preserving of fish, crustaceans and mollusks industry group (5% vs 4.6%).

Price increases were also seen in computer, electronic and optical products (6.1% vs 6.0%), chemicals and chemical products (5.8% vs 5.7%), beverages (3.2% vs 3.1%), and other non-metallic mineral products (3.2% vs 2.9%), while price growth was unchanged for basic metals (5.6%) and transport equipment (2.7%).

Monthly, the PPI rose by 0.3% in August, after flat readings in July and June.

For the January-August period, producer prices increased by 2.5%.

Prices for coke and refined petroleum products rose at a faster pace (2.4% vs 1.3% in June), contributing 68.6% to the overall annual growth. Other key upward pressures came from computer, electronic and optical products (5.8% vs 5.6%) and other manufacturing, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (3.2% vs 2.4%). On the other hand, price growth slowed for basic metals (5.5% vs 5.7%), transport equipment (2.8% vs 3.0%), as well as food products (1.3% vs 1.7%), particularly prepared animal feeds (0.9% vs 2.3%). On a monthly basis, the PPI edged up by 0.1%, after a flat reading in the previous month. For the January-July period, producer prices increased by 2.4%.

Philippines Producer Inflation Edges Down to 3% in June
Producer prices for manufacturing in the Philippines increased by 3.0% year-on-year in June 2026, easing slightly from an upwardly revised 3.1% rise in May, which marked the highest level since February 2023. The slowdown was mainly due to softer price growth for coke and refined petroleum products (2.4% vs 3.0% in May), which contributed 33.9% to the deceleration in the overall growth rate, followed by computer, electronic and optical products (5.6% vs 5.9%) and basic metals (5.5% vs 5.9%). Meanwhile, producer inflation for food products picked up (1.7% vs 1.5%), led by faster price growth for grain mill products, starches and starch products (2.5% vs 0.7%), more than offsetting slower increases in the processing and preserving of fish, crustaceans and mollusks (3.8% vs 5.1%) and a steeper fall in vegetable and animal oils and fats (-5.2% vs -4.5%). Monthly, the PPI edged up 0.2%, following an upwardly revised 0.3% rise in May. For the first half of 2026, producer prices rose by 2.3%
