Morocco GDP Growth Stays Robust in Q2

The economy of Morocco advanced by 4% year-on-year in Q2 2026, following growth of 4.6% in Q1 and 5.8% a year ago.

The expansion was mainly driven by agricultural activity, which surged by 21.2%, while non-agricultural activities rose by 1.5%.

Within the non-agricultural sector, the services sector grew by 4%, driven by strong performance in financial services and insurance (7.7%), education, human health and social work (6.4%); accommodation & food services (6.6%) and public administration and social security activities (6.4%).

Conversely, the secondary sector contracted by 3.9%, reflecting sharp declines in extractive industries (-28.6%) and manufacturing (-3.2%), partly offset by growth in construction (2.8%) and utilities (1.9%).

On the demand side, household consumption rose by 4.1% and government spending by 4.6%, while investment advanced 6.8%.

Net external demand was a drag on GDP growth, as imports jumped by 9.1%, outpacing the 7.6% growth in exports.

Morocco’s economy expanded by 4.6% year-on-year in Q1 2026, up from 4.1% in the previous quarter. The primary sector posted strong growth of 17.3%, driven by an 18.4% increase in agriculture, while fishing declined by 1.9%. The services sector also expanded (4.3%), supported mainly by financial and insurance activities (7.6%) and transportation and storage (4.8%). By contrast, the secondary sector contracted by 1.0%, weighed down by declines in electricity and water (-3.4%), mining (-3.2%), and manufacturing (-1.3%). On the expenditure side, domestic demand rose by 6.5%, driven by household consumption (4.6%), government spending (4.9%), and investment (10.8%). Imports increased by 12.7%, while exports rose at a slower pace of 9.2%.

Morocco Q3 GDP Annual Growth Slows to 4%
Morocco’s economy expanded by 4.0% year-on-year in Q3 2025, down from 5.5% in Q2 and 5.0% in the same period a year earlier, marking the weakest GDP growth since Q4 2024. Growth was driven by non-agricultural activities (3.8%) and agricultural activities (4.4%). The secondary sector grew 3.8%, supported by electricity, gas, water, sanitation & waste treatment (5.9%), construction and public works (5.6%), and manufacturing (2.6%). The tertiary sector rose 4.2%, led by accommodation and food services (7.4%), financial services and insurance (6.8%), education, health, and social work (5.7%), transportation and warehousing (3.5%), and trade and repair of motor vehicles (3.2%). By contrast, fisheries activities plunged by 24.4%.
