Morocco GDP Annual Growth Rate at 3.00 percent  
The economy of Morocco expanded 3.0 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2018, following a 2.4 percent growth in the previous period. Output advanced further in the primary sector (4.1 percent from 1.7 percent in Q2), mainly due to fishing (6.8 percent from -13.3 percent); and the secondary sector (3.0 percent from 2.0 percent), namely manufacturing (2.9 percent from 2.7 percent), electricity and water (7.5 percent from 3.1 percent) and mining (4.0 percent from -1.1 percent). Additionally, output growth was unchanged in the services sector (2.9 percent, the same pace as in Q2), mostly due to internal trade (4.4 percent from 4.2 percent), public administration (3.2 percent from 3.1 percent) and financial and insurance services (2.4 percent from 2.0 percent).

Morocco Inflation Rate at 1.30 percent  
The annual inflation rate in Morocco fell to 1.3 percent in November of 2018 from 2.0 percent in the previous month. Prices fell for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.5 percent compared to 1.8 percent in October) and slowed for transportation (1.4 percent compared to 1.6 percent) and miscellaneous goods and services (6.4 percent compared to 6.5 percent). On the other hand, cost rose at a faster pace for housing and utilities (1.0 percent compared to 0.9 percent); furniture and household equipment (1.4 percent compared to 0.9 percent); clothing and footwear (1.1 percent compared to 1.0 percent); education (3.4 percent compared to 2.3 percent) and health (0.8 percent compared to 0.5 percent). Additionally, inflation was steady for recreation and culture (at 0.8 percent, the same as in October). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.7 percent, rebounding from a 0.1 percent decline in the prior month.

The National Bank of Morocco left its monetary policy rate unchanged at 2.25 percent at its December 18th 2018 meeting. Policymakers said the decision is based on the inflation rate trajectory and the economic growth in the medium-term. The annual inflation rate rose to 2.0 percent in October from 1.1 percent in September, driven by a rebound in cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages; and it is expected to be an average of 2 percent by the end of the year; 1 percent for 2019 and 1.2 percent for 2020. The annual core inflation rate is projected to average 1.1 percent in 2018; 1 percent in 2019 and 1.6 percent in 2020. The Committee also noted a lower than expected level of activity for the second quarter of the year and projected a growth of 3.3 percent in 2018; 3.1 percent in 2019 and 3.6 percent in 2020. Agricultural activity is expected to rose by 4.6 percent instead of 15.4 percent while non agriculture growth will accelerate to 3.4 percent in 2019 and 3.7 percent in 2020.

Also, the unemployment rate remains relatively high among youth aged 15-24 (27.5 percent from 29.3 percent) and college graduates (17.1 percent from 18.2 percent).
