Mongolia Inflation Rate Eases in August

The annual inflation rate in Mongolia eased to 12.5% in August 2026, following a more than three-year high of 13.0% in the previous month.
Price growth moderated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (21.5% vs 25.5% in July), health, medical care and services (7.1% vs 7.5%), and miscellaneous goods and services (9.4% vs 9.8%).
Meanwhile, inflation picked up for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (14.2% vs 12.6%), transport (11.2% vs 10.0%), education (17.4% vs 12.8%), clothing, footwear, and cloth (7.4% vs 7.2%), furnishing and household equipment (8.9% vs 8.7%), recreation and culture (7.7% vs 6.6%), housing and utilities (5.4% vs 5.1%), restaurants and hotels (16.4% vs 16.2%), and insurance and financial services (17.1% vs 17.0%).
At the same time, prices remained steady for communication at 1.6%.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.1% in August, up from 0.9% in the previous month.
